Laurentian Unit Trust Management Ltd
I was first engaged on a 2 week contact via elan.it to look into the registration documentation that was handled by the Royal Bank of Scotland in their Edinburgh office. The contract was then renewed for six months during which time my role was to investigate the various unit trust software packages available.
At the end of this second contract I was offered full time employment as the Accounts and Systems manager for the company, which I accepted.
My role as the Accounts and System manager involved me in supervising the day to day running of the unit trust software that had been purchased and managing the accounting department. I was also responisble for preparing mothly accounts for the company.
The software package, trade named Quasar, was supplied by ACT Finacial Systems Ltd based in Birmingham. It was written in a language called MUMPS which I quickly learned and became proficient in.
I ultimately wrote an additional module to handle the accounting side, which was not available in Quasar at the time.
After nearly four years working for the company my managing director, who I had worked for throughout, resigned to take up the position as MD for the Woolwich Unit Trust division. Following the company's offer of promotion to his position, and a paltry £1500 per annum salary increase, I also resigned.
I was immediately offered a position as a senior consultant by ACT Financial Systems Ltd., on a long term contract, which I accepted.
