Gibraltar
When I first arrived in Gibraltar I was immediately employed by Mr Harry Posso a well respected member of the community who had offices in Main Street and managed a team of sales consultants selling life and pension assurance policies provided by Liberty Life.
During this time I wrote a financial package for his company that ran on several PCs from his office. I was also responsible for liasing with the Inspector of Taxes to agree tax concessions for people who took out personal insurance and pension plans, and then liasing with Liberty Life who provided policies that conformed with the tax legislation as agreed.
Some time later I was employed by Mr Stuart Watkins who sold and maintained micro computers to local businesses, including the major banks.
During this time I wrote several accountancy packages for his clients and an internal administration system for his company. I was also responsible for installing operating systems and other software before the computers were delivered to customers.
